The San Francisco 49ers have been at their best when using a deep rotation of edge defenders. Superstar pass-rusher Nick Bosa has never played more than 78% of the snaps, while his peer T.J. Watt has been at or above 86% in three of the last four years. The rotation has allowed SF to keep their best D-Linemen fresh well into the fourth quarter.

But that rotation looks a lot less deep this year after losing contributors like Arden Key, D.J. Jones and Kentavius Street in free agency. As a result, the 49ers are reportedly interested in taking a low-risk, high-reward gamble on former Indianapolis Colts second-round EDGE, Kemoko Turay.

Still just 26 years old, Turay has plenty of untapped potential. In four seasons with the Colts, Turay only recorded 12.0 sacks and 29 QB hits, but injuries were the culprit, as he missed 27 games in that span.

Turay has actually been pretty effective when healthy. In his two seasons with 10-plus appearances, Turay recorded 9.5 sacks, 21 QB hits and 31 pressures despite never playing more than 42% of the snaps in either year. That's the kind of efficiency and explosiveness the 49ers are looking for.

If he can stay healthy, Turay could be a great under-the-radar addition to San Francisco's rotation. This feels like a potential win-win move for both sides.
