After a strange 2019 season, in which the surprising retirement of their franchise quarterback set the tone for the entire year, the Indianapolis Colts look ready to bounce back and compete for the AFC South title. They signed veteran quarterback Philip Rivers, hoping to fill the need there and compete right now.

When making a short-term, high-dollar deal like this, the pressure is on to perform well right away and show it was the right move. With this added pressure in mind, these are the three Colts that are most in danger of losing their starting jobs this season.

1. Marlon Mack, RB

The Colts spent the No. 41 overall draft pick on the back-to-back Doak Walker Award winner, Jonathan Taylor. They wouldn't spend a high draft pick on him if they didn't have a plan, and it's possible they feel they are not getting enough out of Marlon Mack. Taylor has incredible vision and has proven he can do it all, so he is likely to thrive behind the big Colts offensive line, which is something Mack has not been able to do consistently.

2. Xavier Rhodes, CB

The long-time Minnesota Viking signed with the Colts this offseason. Turning 30 before the season begins, Rhodes is a couple years removed from being an elite defender. However, last season was no good. Rhodes allowed an 81.5 percent completion rate and 791 receiving yards (ninth-most in NFL) last season. If he continues this level of play, it's tough to believe they would keep him on the field.

3. Chase McLaughlin, K

The Colts are replacing the G.O.A.T. this season, after Adam Vinatieri showed his age last year. Instead, they look to be switching to second-year pro Chase McLaughlin, who was about five months old when Vinatieri made his NFL debut. McLaughlin played for three different teams his rookie year, including the Colts. He was perfect for extra points, but just 18-of-23 on field goals, missing five in the 40-yard range. The signed undrafted rookie Rodrigo Blankenship out of Georgia, who has a real chance to win this starting job. Blankenship went 100-for-100 on extra points and had a career-long of 55 yards.
