The Green Bay Packers completely overhauled their defense this offseason and fans' expectations could be rising as a result. Aaron Rodgers and Co. could also benefit from the team's head coaching change, as Mike McCarthy was replaced by former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur.
With so much hype surrounding the upcoming Packers' season, let's take a look at arguably the three biggest games on their schedule.
3. Green Bay Packers at Kansas City Chiefs – Week 8
While there are other intruiging aspects of this matchup, most of the eyeballs will be on the battle between Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes at quarterback. These are arguably the two most talented quarterbacks in the NFL and watching Rodgers and Mahomes duke it out could make this a memorable game. Both players have the ability to change the game with one play, so we could see some fireworks at Arrowhead.
2. Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys –Week 5
The Dallas Cowboys and Packers are two of the most storied franchises in the NFL and the rivalry between these two came to the forefront in the 2014-15 NFL Playoffs. The Cowboys lost that famous playoff game in heartbreaking fashion after a controversial ruling on a late-game non-catch by Dez Bryant. Dallas was out for revenge in the 2016-17 postseason, but the Packers kept them at bay once again. With the considerable amount of recent history between these two, expect this Week 5 contest to be a pivotal game in the Packers' season.
1. Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears –Week 1
The Packers' opening game of the season is always anticipated, but this Week 1 matchup looks particularly intriguing. With a QB like Rodgers at the helm, the Packers could be one of the best offenses in the NFL if LaFleur can work out some kinks on offense. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears were the best defense in the league last season, surrendering just 17.6 points per game. The history between these two and the classic matchup of offense vs. defense should make the NFL's season opener a game to look forward to for football fans throughout the league.
