The Cincinnati Reds will be without one of their best players for the second straight game on Saturday as they prepare to face the Philadelphia Phillies. Outfielder Jesse Winker is being held out of the lineup as he continues dealing with back tightness.
While there's been no indication that he'll have to spend time on the injured list, the fact that this injury has held Winker out for two games in as many days is certainly concerning for Reds fans.
Jesse Winker Injury Update
As mentioned before, Winker has been one of the Reds' best players all season long. After some modest campaigns in the past, he's broken out to the tune of a career-best 24 home runs and 71 RBI, as well as a National League-leading 32 doubles.
Winker's injury certainly comes at an inopportune time as the Reds have won seven of their last 10 contests and currently sit 7.5 games behind the NL Central-leading Milwaukee Brewers. Cincinnati is also just 2.5 games out of the final National League Wild Card spot, so getting Winker back sooner than later would be welcomed.
Fortunately, even with Winker out of the lineup, the Reds stand a solid chance to beat the Phillies on Saturday. Cincinnati is favored to win the matchup at -134 odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, while Philadelphia's odds sit at +114.
