White Sox Hold Steady in Latest MLB.com Power Rankings (April 18)

The Chicago White Sox are once again overcoming a serious case of the injury bug, starting off with an AL Central-leading 6-3 record to open the year. Chicago is just one of five MLB teams that have won at least two-thirds of its games and have done so with prominent names like Lance Lynn, Lucas Giolito and Yoan Moncada on the injured list.
That's exactly why White Sox fans will love seeing their team hold steady in MLB.com's first edition (after preseason) of the season-long power rankings at No. 3.

White Sox Power Rankings
The pitching staff is leading the charge for Tony La Russa's squad as Chicago ranks eighth overall in team ERA (3.24) and seventh in total strikeouts (94). Dylan Cease (1.69) and Michael Kopech (1.00) are picking up the slack for the injured Lynn and Giolito, each touting a sub-2.00 ERA.
One area that the White Sox are hoping to improve is a slow start from closer Liam Hendriks. A trio of tough outings to start the year has his ERA ballooned to 5.40, but he's also saved four consecutive games.
Tim Anderson is the main spark offensively, and his early stats show him on an MVP and All-Star worthy trajectory. The stud shortstop is slashing .393/.414/.607 with three doubles and four RBIs in his first 29 plate appearances.
Chicago looks to be a serious World Series threat again, and the oddsmakers agree. Currently, FanDuel Sportsbook's World Series Odds show the White Sox at +1200 (T-4th).
