Warriors' Odds to Win 2020 NBA Championship Plunge Before Rebounding With D'Angelo Russell Trade

The opening day of 2019 NBA Free Agency was a rollercoaster in the odds to win next year's NBA Finals, with a host of major names already switching teams.
It was especially eventful for the Golden State Warriors, who saw their 2020 NBA Championship odds temporarily plummet as low as +1700 at one point Sunday, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Warriors quickly found out Kevin Durant would be taking a pay cut to join the Brooklyn Nets in the Eastern Conference on Sunday, which sent Golden State's title odds falling from +1200 to +1700. However, the Warriors' odds have bounced right back up to +1200 since acquiring D'Angelo Russell via trade late last night.
Russell should provide another lethal scoring weapon in Golden State's backcourt, which will certainly be needed as Klay Thompson recovers from an ACL injury.

The Nets are being considered early winners in Sunday's free agency, acquiring Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan. They had their odds to win the 2020 NBA Championship drop to as low as +4200 on June 21, but those have now soared to +2000. The Nets' odds got as high as +1700 at one point Sunday, even with Durant likely miss the entirety of next season due to an Achilles injury suffered in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
With plenty of talent still available to sign, we could see even more dramatic change over the next few days, especially once Kawhi Leonard picks where he'll be playing next year.
