Warren McClendon Scouting Report
Warren McClendon was his usual consistent self for the Bulldogs last fall. He played 751 offensive snaps in his final campaign at Georgia, surrendering zero sacks — his second campaign in a row doing so — while giving up just one quarterback hit and seven hurries.
McClendon thrives in the run game, having no issues stepping up to make a block. He has enough strength to stand toe-to-toe with most defensive linemen, too. His football IQ is also solid and he possesses the ability to play on both the right and left side — the type of versatility that NFL coaches adore.
Nevertheless, McClendon isn't a perfect prospect. He's not the best pass protector and sometimes gets beat by quicker defenders. His lack of speed is a detriment, as well as the fact that he doesn't use his power as often as he should.
Warren McClendon NFL Draft Prediction
Four of the five highlighted mock drafts point to Warren McClendon likely being a Day 3 pick. Although one projects for him to go undrafted, his versatility on the o-line and effectiveness in the run game will more than likely lead to his name being called.
The San Francisco 49ers are one potential destination for McClendon. Although the 49ers had one of the better o-line units last season, starting right tackle Mike McGlinchey left for the Denver Broncos this offseason. While McClendon won't fill McGlinchey's hole perfectly, he's a good fit for a run-heavy team like San Francisco.
The 49ers also own a whopping eight picks between Rounds 5 and 7, giving them more than enough capital to take a flyer on the Georgia product.
Prediction: San Francisco 49ers (Round 5, 155th overall)
