The Minnesota Vikings are prepping to take on the New York Giants during Wild Card Weekend. Minnesota would love nothing more than to make a statement to the doubters around the league with a big win.
Now the Vikings might get back a significant reinforcement to help them with that task.
Offensive tackle Blake Brandel has been officially designated to return from the injured reserve list. He's also back at practice, meaning he's wasting no time in preparing to suit up again.
This is a notable development on Minnesota's offensive line. Brandel went from playing mostly on special teams to begin the year to earning a sizable role on the O-line due to injuries. He even started three games for the Vikings in Weeks 11, 13, and 14, but suffered a torn MCL in the latter contest and landed on IR to close the regular season.
With the likes of Austin Schlottmann and Brian O'Neill also on injured reserve, the Vikings can use all the help they can get up front. It remains to be seen if Brandel is able to return for Sunday's playoff matchup against New York.
