The Minnesota Vikings added several new faces to their defense this offseason. One signing already paying dividends is EDGE Za'Darius Smith, who continues to be an absolute menace to opposing quarterbacks.

Smith's monster performance in Week 8 has helped him clinch a big contract incentive.

Smith officially hit 8.5 sacks this past Sunday, which means he's earned an extra $500K for meeting that milestone. Making that accomplishment even more impressive is the fact it only took him seven games to do so.

The two-time Pro Bowler has been a home-run signing for Minnesota in 2022. Smith has immediately elevated the Vikings' pass rush, helping the team post the seventh-highest sack total (21.0) so far this season. He's been a pure disrupter off of the edge, adding 12 tackles for loss and 13 QB hits as well.

Smith is playing like a man determined to cash in. If he can reach 10.5 sacks, he'll earn $750K, and he'll get $1 million if he hits 12.5 sacks. Minnesota will likely be glad to empty out its pockets if he continues to tear it up on the field.
