The Minnesota Vikings will look to bounce back in 2021 and return to the playoffs behind a hopefully revamped defensive unit. The team received good news regarding linebacker Anthony Barr's latest injury update as he is back on the field and looks like he could be ready to go for Week 1 action.
Anthony Barr Injury Update
Barr was back on the practice field with the Vikings for the first time since he went down with a torn pectoral muscle early on last season. Having the four-time Pro Bowler back is a major boost given Minnesota will be aiming to improve its mark of allowing the fourth-most points per game in 2020 (29.7).
The veteran playmaker has been in Minnesota for all seven of his NFL seasons and has been an every-down player in the middle of the defense. Barr has racked up 85 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 4 pass breakups, 1 interception, 1 safety and 1 forced fumble over the course of his last 16 games played.
The duo of Barr and fellow Pro-Bowler Eric Kendricks gives the Vikings one of the best one-two punches at linebacker in the league. Expect head coach Mike Zimmer to get a lot more out of his guys than he did last year.
The Vikings will be fighting to keep pace in a tough NFC North division next season and need to be better on defense if they want that to happen. Getting Barr back is a great first step. Minnesota currently has odds set at +270 to win the division, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
