The American Flag Football League (AFFL) is back for another season, and so is one of its most notable faces – former NFL QB Michael Vick. This time around, he's joined by former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant, former New Orleans Saints QB and Florida Gators great Danny Wuerffel and former NBA point guard Nate Robinson on the Florida Fury.
And, man, do these guys make some great plays, albeit in practice.
While Vick and Avant have some built-in chemistry, as the two were teammates in Philadelphia for five seasons, it's Wuerffel, the former Heisman Trophy winner that will be throwing most of the passes in upcoming AFFL games.
The name that may be a bit of a surprise is Robinson. However, the only three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion does have experience playing football. He played one season of college football, as a cornerback for the Washington Huskies, and attempted to make an NFL roster after retiring from the NBA.
While there won't be any bone-crunching hits, the AFFL should be enough to hold football fans over until we get some real NFL action in a few short months.
