After months of anticipation, MLB The Show 23 finally revealed the cover athlete for the newest edition of the best baseball video game on the market. Miami Marlins infielder Jazz Chisholm will be on this year's cover, although he won't be the only famous ballplayer gracing the cover.

MLB The Show commonly releases a special edition of their game as well, which often includes a special athlete on the cover. This year's 'Collector's Edition' will feature New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter.

Jeter made a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and reacted to the news. Check out the video below:

Jeter, with his classic dry sense of humor, took the opportunity to make this a joke. He explained that he's been contemplating coming out of retirement for years, which will now be much easier to accomplish through a video game.

Well Mr. Jeter, you got your wish. The cover athlete of each MLB The Show game is usually turned into an unlockable card through the 'Diamond Dynasty' feature and is often considered one of the best players in the game with a 99 overall rating. There's no doubt that Jeter will be included in this special group of players in 2023 -- a fitting tribute for the first-ballot Hall of Famer.
