Vance McDonald Injury Update Doesn't Appear Too Serious

Through three weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been ravaged by injuries. They lost franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the remainder of the season to an elbow injury, and the team has fallen to an 0-3 start.

The latest Steeler to get banged up is tight end Vance McDonald, but thankfully it doesn't appear to be too serious as a season-long concern.

McDonald's fantasy owners were likely a bit concerned when the Steelers traded for TE Nick Vannett, as it could've pointed to a multi-week absence. However, it appears McDonald should be fine in the long term, though his Week 4 availability is certainly clouded by the shoulder sprain.

While McDonald hasn't had the breakout campaign many hoped he would, he has been serviceable through three weeks. He's put up 20.8 fantasy points in standard-scoring leagues, which puts him at TE12 thus far.

If McDonald is ruled out for Week 4, you can find some quality streaming tight end options here. And there's one more name to keep an eye on if McDonald experiences a setback.

Ben Watson Fantasy Outlook

Benjamin Watson was signed by the New England Patriots this offseason, but he's been forced to miss the first four games of the season due to a PED suspension.

However, the New England Patriots have gotten really banged up, and he could be a solid fantasy asset upon his Week 5 return. New England lost Antonio Brown, traded Demaryius Thomas, sent N'Keal Harry to the IR and both Josh Gordon and Julian Edelman are dealing with minor injuries of their own.

With no established veteran presence at tight end, Watson could step into an immediate role on the team. He hasn't been particularly fantasy relevant recently, finishing as TE21 in 2018, but he was TE11 in 2017 and could be stepping into a much bigger role than he had last season. If you're in need of a TE, Watson could be a worth a gamble if you willing to stash him for a week.
