The New York Yankees rolled this weekend at home against the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees swept the four-game series, giving themselves an eight-game lead in the AL East over the second-place Tampa Bay Rays.

Despite the Yankees being percentage points ahead of the Houston Astros for the best record in the AL, the Astros (+250) are still the favorite to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have the next-best odds, at +290, followed by the aforementioned Yankees, at +500. The Astros pulled ahead in the odds to win the World Series after adding Zack Greinke at the trade deadline, and now their top three starters (Greinke, Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole) all have an ERA under 3.00.

The Yankees' biggest strengths are their bullpen and their lineup. The Bronx Bombers have the third-best team OPS at .819. However, the Astros have them beat there as well with a .827 OPS. Houston also has a better run differential (+147) than the Yankees do (+133).

The 2019 Yankees are a great team, but the Astros are statistically better in almost every category, and remain the favorite to win the World Series as we've now turned the calendar to August.
