Updated Quarterback Depth Chart for Dolphins After NFL Draft

Quarterbacks were the talk of the 2021 NFL Draft given a deep class at the position. Five QBs went in the first round alone, though several talented prospects were taken after that and picked up as undrafted free agents.
The Miami Dolphins already selected their quarterback of the future last year when they drafted 5th overall. Now that he doesn't need to compete with Ryan Fitzpatrick anymore, this is Tagovailoa's No. 1 spot to lose.
Here's a look at the Dolphins' updated QB depth chart for 2021.
Dolphins QB Depth Chart 2021
1. Tua Tagovailoa
Tua Tagovailoa was sheltered for the better part of this rookie season, considering he was playing the backup role to Fitzpatrick. However, he managed to showcase his stuff down the stretch. By the end of the 2020 NFL season, Tagovailoa had racked up 1,814 passing yards and 11 touchdowns to 5 interceptions in nine starts. If he's able to prove he can improve on those numbers next season, the Dolphins will be thrilled with his development.
2. Jacoby Brissett
With Fitzpatrick out of town, the Dolphins brought in Jacoby Brissett to be the team's veteran backup on a one-year deal. Brissett showed that he was capable of being a starting signal-caller when the Indianapolis Colts were without Andrew Luck multiple times. Through 30 starts with the Colts, Brissett threw for 6,059 yards and 31 TDs (and 13 INTs). All in all, he's probably one of the best backups in the league.
3. Jake Rudock
Former Iowa Hawkeyes QB Jake Rudock has been with the Dolphins since 2019, spending a majority of time on their practice squad. The 28-year-old has yet to play an NFL snap, so there's no telling what he'd look like on the field. Still, teams need depth and that's exactly what Rudock is for Miami.
4. Reid Sinnett
Another depth signal-caller, Reid Sinnett joined the Dolphins' practice squad in September 2020. Like Rudock, he didn't see any action despite being promoted to the active roster for the final six weeks of the season. Dolphins fans should expect more of the same out of Sinnett this season, too.
