Trey Lance Has Wholesome Quote About Relationship With Jimmy Garoppolo

One of the biggest storylines of the NFL offseason will be what the San Francisco 49ers decide to do at the quarterback position. 2021 first-round pick Trey Lance may be called upon to start over Jimmy Garoppolo, yet the two signal-callers have developed a friendship that goes beyond the game.

Lance called Garoppolo a friend for life in a recent wholesome quote and it truly goes to show what kind of player the eight-year veteran is. It never bothered Garoppolo that the team traded three draft picks to select his apparent successor. A lot of players would've reacted much differently.

Garoppolo has long been heralded as a great teammate and shows nothing but support to those alongside him in the locker room. Lance explained how the media tried to pit him and Jimmy G against one another. However, the two ended up leaning on one another instead.

Whether Garoppolo is still in San Francisco next fall or not, his impact on the team these last few seasons is hard to overlook. The 30-year-old has led the 49ers to a 31-14 record as the starting quarterback and two playoff appearances, which included a Super Bowl bid during the 2019 season.

Meanwhile, Lance completed 41 of his 71 pass attempts for 603 yards and accounted for 6 total touchdowns during his rookie season. He posted a 1-1 record across his first two career starts.
