The most interesting part of the college football schedule is always the non-conference games. It's the rare chance for fans to see two teams play that may be playing for the first time in a decade, and truly get an idea of which conferences are the strongest.

The schedule has already been released for the 2019 NCAA football season and there are a number of highly intriguing non-conference matchups.

In preparation for the beginning of the college football season, here are the four best non-conference games for Week 1.

4. Oregon vs Auburn

Auburn finished the 2018 at 8-5 and at number 10 in the AP Poll. Oregon had a solid season in its own right, finishing 9-5 and fourth in the Pac-12 North. Oregon quarterback, Justin Herbert is a sleeper Heisman candidate this season, and Ducks fans would love if he could avenge Oregon's loss from the 2011 National Championship game.

3. Boise State vs Florida State

Despite both of these programs having notable historic success, this will be the first matchup between the two teams. Florida State will look to rebound after going 5-7 in 2018. Meanwhile, Boise State wants to come out hot and prove they are worthy of their preseason AP Poll ranking of No. 23.

2. Houston vs Oklahoma

Not only is this game interesting because it will be the first look at the Kyler Murray-less Oklahoma Sooners, but it's also just the fourth all-time matchup between these two teams. Oklahoma is still ranked No. 4 in the preseason AP Poll with Jalen Hurts taking over under center for Murray. Houston, meanwhile, is trying to continue to build on its 8-5 season a year ago.

1. Miami vs Florida

The first game of the 2019 NCAA football season will give fans a taste of one of the more historic non-conference rivalries. Miami beat Florida the last time these two squared off in 2013, and have a slight all-time series lead over their in-state rivals. Miami is 29-26 against the Gators, but will likely be underdogs in this spot, as Florida is coming off a 10-3 season that helped land them at No. 7 in the preseason AP Poll.
