Quarterback Tom Brady is set to miss more than a week of training camp as steps away from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to "deal with some personal things." He will return after the team's second preseason game, but head coach Todd Bowles left the door open to a shocking Week 1 scenario.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers News

Bowles stated during his press conference that his confidence is "pretty high" that Brady will start for the Bucs in their Week 1 game on September 11. Pretty high is not 100%, though. Bowles was unable to fully commit to his answer, which leaves a lot of questions left to be answered here.

It's worth noting that Bowles explained this was something Brady discussed with him prior to the start of training camp. The three-time MVP has already missed three of Tampa Bay's last six practices. It's all been part of an "excused" absence.

No one outside of Brady and the Buccaneers organization knows what is truly going on, so it's important not to jump to any conclusions. After all, it's unlikely he would've played in either of the first two preseason games anyways. All eyes now turn to his preparation for Week 1 in the coming month.

For now, look for backup Kyle Trask to take on the majority of first-team reps. The second-year pro completed 29 of his 55 pass attempts for 312 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions during the 2021 preseason (3 games). Of course, he has yet to take a single snap in the regular season.

The Buccaneers have odds set at +750 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
