The Chicago White Sox have given shortstop Tim Anderson a handful of off days recently to get some much-needed rest. Manager Tony La Russa noted that there was no serious injury the standout is dealing with, but rather the team wanted to make sure he recovered from the normal wear and tear of the season.

However, Anderson will be back in the lineup on Wednesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Tim Anderson Injury

Anderson last suited up on Aug. 20 and delivered the game-tying home run in an eventual 7-5 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Chicago hasn't fared well without their star since, going just 1-3, though the rest they could give the 28-year-old will be invaluable down the stretch.

Anderson has racked up 14 home runs, 51 RBI and 17 stolen bases across 104 games this season. He's slashing .303/.330/.460 and provided a constant source of production despite the White Sox's injury woes this year.

Chicago owns a 10.0-game lead for first place in the AL Central. They are tied for the third-best odds to win the World Series at +750, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
