The San Francisco 49ers are looking to book another trip to the Super Bowl with a win on Sunday over the Philadelphia Eagles. San Fran got in its first real practice on Wednesday leading up to this important matchup.
Unfortunately, three key players were unable to participate in this session ahead of the NFC Championship.
San Francisco 49ers Injury News
Running backs Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell, along with wide receiver Deebo Samuel, were all held out of practice on Wednesday due to injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan noted he can't guarantee anything, but he is still expecting the important trio to play this weekend.
This group's absence is noteworthy, but it's not a major concern at this point in the week. The 49ers have two more days of practice before they'll release their final injury report, giving these playmakers plenty of time to avoid any kind of designations for the NFC Championship.
It's no surprise to see these names held out, either. Samuel and Mitchell battled various injuries throughout the 2022 campaign, while McCaffrey is currently dealing with a mild calf issue as well. San Francisco is smart to preserve these guys for when the snaps really count on Sunday.
It's worth monitoring the statuses of Samuel, McCaffrey and Mitchell ahead of kickoff. For now, the 49ers are listed as slim 2.5-point road underdogs against the Eagles, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
