This Darius Leonard Quote Should Get Colts Fans Hyped

Since entering the league in 2018, Darius Leonard has established himself as one of the best linebackers in football. He's one of just nine players to have racked up at least 170 solo tackles during that two-year span. And among those nine, he ranks first in QB hits (14), sacks (12) and third in tackles for loss (19).

More impressively, though, he has accomplished all that despite playing in just 28 games, making him the only player on this list to have played fewer than 30 contests. But if Leonard's latest quote is any indication, he's not satisfied quite yet.

Leonard revealed that he's written down about 15 goals for himself during the 2020 campaign. That list is highlighted by his hopes to win the 2020 Super Bowl MVP, and the Defensive Player of the Year award.

While it's far too early to evaluate the Indianapolis Colts' Super Bowl chances, Leonard's DPOY goal might not be that unrealistic. He's currently tied for the 12th-best odds (+2900) to win the award on FanDuel Sportsbook.

One of the best all-around linebackers in the league, Leonard can make an impact in all facets of the game. In fact, he's the only player in NFL history to have racked up at least 12 sacks and 7 interceptions through his first two NFL seasons.

If Leonard hopes to achieve these lofty goals, he'll have to stay healthy – something he wasn't able to do last year, as he missed three games. Still, if he plays all 16 games, the 2018 first-team All-Pro appears poised for a special season in 2020.
