Texans Could Target Unsurprising Choice as Potential David Culley Replacement

NFL coaching rumors are heating up as the offseason approaches. Houston Texans head coach David Culley has been the subject of some early rumblings, as his future is murky following a less-than-impressive year.
NFL insider Jay Glazer provided some insight on Culley's job security ahead of Week 18.
The coaching firing carousel began this AM w the firing of Vic Fangio. It’s just the start. Here is my coaching forecast and what you need to know of who’s safe, on the hot seat and still in flux as well as an extensive guide to candidates to fill those jobs. pic.twitter.com/4QRxArTTz5

Glazer said he wouldn't be shocked if Houston moved on from Culley after just one year. The Texans even have been linked to one unsurprising name as a possible replacement for Culley.
Glazer says the Texans, who could move on from David Culley, "like Josh McDaniels." Not surprising given the Caserio connection. Is that a job McDaniels would consider? https://t.co/qWTvfv8DkD

Houston's brass likes current New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, according to Glazer. Given the Texans' numerous links to the Pats, like GM Nick Caserio, it's far from surprising to hear them potentially dipping into that well once again.
Nick Caserio and Josh McDaniels were college football teammates at John Carrol University.

The two spent years together in New England and McDaniels’ brother Ben is an assistant on the #Texans coaching staff.
Nick Caserio is going to hire McDaniels.
It's hard to see this being fans' No. 1 pick. McDaniels struggled in his only stint as an NFL head coach, going just 11-17 with the Denver Broncos before and not even lasting two full seasons.
He does have a reputation for developing quarterbacks, and rookie Mac Jones has looked impressive in his first year, so he could theoretically be what Houston needs to help maximize the potential of Davis Mills.
Still, it could be a frustrating choice for the Texans to lean into their Pats resemblance even more instead of developing their own identity.
