The NFL's free agency period kicks off in a couple of weeks and one team expected to be active is the Houston Texans. After all, Houston finished the 2021 season with a 4-13 record and must make some serious changes in the coming months to bounce back.

The Texans decided to make an offseason move on Friday by re-signing linebacker Tae Davis to a one-year deal, according to ProFootballNetwork's Aaron Wilson.

Davis originally signed a one-year contract with the Texans in March 2021, however, he spent the entirety of the season on the injured reserve. Clearly, Houston saw enough potential to warrant a do-over.

An undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft, Davis has enjoyed stints with the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns before joining the Texans. He's played 40 games (five starts) so far in his career, recording 52 tackles, 2.0 sacks and a pair of broken up passes.

Linebacker depth will come in handy following the season that saw the Texans finish 27th in defensive scoring. The hope is that defense-oriented head coach Lovie Smith can get the Houston defenders to buy into his system and turn things around going forward.

Unfortunately, the 2022 NFL season figures to be an uphill battle for the Texans and their defense. Their +18000 odds to win Super Bowl LVII are the worst in the league, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
