The Houston Texans' 2022 season has gone as expected, with the team once again at the bottom of the standings in the AFC South. With playoff contention out of the realm of possibility, it allows this rebuilding team to give extra reps to young talent and identify potential long-term pieces.
After already nabbing one young player off of waivers this week, Houston is adding another.
Houston Texans News
The Texans have claimed wide receiver Amari Rodgers off of waivers. He was cut by the Green Bay Packers this week, and Houston used its No. 1 priority to make another addition ahead of Week 11.
Rodgers was a third-round pick by Green Bay in 2021 after a breakout senior season at Clemson. However, he never cracked the WR rotation and instead was relegated to special teams, where he struggled with ball security. Rodgers committed 7 fumbles in Green Bay, and his turnover-prone play ended up being so much of a liability on special teams that the team decided to part ways.
Now the wideout will look to get his career back on track in Houston. He certainly is capable of making big plays, as evidenced by his average of 13.7 yards per reception over his last two years at Clemson. Rodgers could certainly garner playing time for a lacking Texans WR corps if he regains that form.
