T.Y. Hilton Fantasy Outlook Tied to Concerning Hamstring Injury
By Max Staley

If fantasy football managers were getting a guaranteed 16 games out of T.Y. Hilton, he'd be ranked a lot higher than he is right now. Unfortunately, that certainly isn't the case.
Hilton is an enticing pick at his current average draft position (ADP), but worrying soft-tissue injuries makes him a risky one as well.
T.Y. Hilton's ranks among WRs on passes targeted 15+ yards downfield, since 2012:

T.Y. Hilton Fantasy Football Value
Hilton's ADP of WR25 does feel about right, if potentially a tad too low. His fantasy outlook is actually pretty simple. If he stays healthy he's likely to outperform that ranking, but if the injury issues resurface, he'll obviously struggle to reach that mark.
In fact, in standard-scoring formats Hilton has actually beaten that WR25 mark every year of his career (aside from 2019).
He's also going to be Philip Rivers' primary deep threat in 2020. Rivers is much more suited to take advantage of Hilton's downfield playmaking ability than Jacoby Brissett was, as Rivers had a top-12 average depth of target (aDOT) of 8.5 yards last year, while Brisett's 7.9 ranked No. 21.
That won't matter if the Colts' standout struggles with injuries again, though. He never had concerning injury issues prior to 2019 (never having missed more than 2 games), but lingering calf and quad issues limited him to 10 contests last year.
Unfortunately, Hilton has already suffered a hamstring injury this offseason, which kept him out of action for a few weeks. This particular issue may not be all that concerning, as he's already back up to speed, but it's definitely not a good sign for his health going forward.

As mentioned above, Hilton's value will be completely tied to his health. A healthy campaign could lead to top-15 upside, but injury issues make him a legitimate risk. We have Hilton as the WR24 in our 2020 rankings.
