The Carolina Panthers' release of former NFL MVP Cam Newton has been one of the biggest storylines of the NFL offseason. Newton has continually used his social media to post hype videos of his workouts, trying to entice teams to call him up.

So far, this self promotion does not seem to have worked. Newton remains a free agent and other veteran quarterbacks have already signed backup jobs. However, there have recently been two surprise franchises to appear in the latest odds to sign Newton, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Cam Newton to Seattle Seahawks

The first surprise has been the Seattle Seahawks (+500). It is clear that Newton would not be brought in to compete for the starting job, with Russell Wilson being one of the league's best at the position. Wilson has also never missed a game, so there would be a very small shot at the Seahawks backup getting playing time.

Cam Newton to Denver Broncos

Another team to emerge in the rumors to sign Newton is the Denver Broncos (+600). The Broncos enter the season with second-year quarterback Drew Lock as the starter. Lock remains unproven and inexperienced, but Denver made moves to surround the young quarterback with weapons and many have said the Broncos will go as far as he can take them this season. If Lock were to not work, it would make sense to have a veteran like Newton who could keep Denver in the playoff race.

Rounding out the top five in the odds to sign Newton are the Jacksonville Jaguars (+300), Washington Redskins (+300) and New England Patriots (+500).
