Surprise Player Turned Heads at Bears Minicamp

The Chicago Bears are looking to improve their offense as it struggled to produce last season averaging just 22.4 points per game (No. 23 in NFL). Well, it looks like one skill position player has been turning heads so far at minicamp in veteran wide receiver Marquise Goodwin.

Bears News: Marquise Goodwin Impressing at Minicamp

Goodwin was signed to a one-year deal that included just $350,00 in guaranteed money by the Bears this offseason. While he wasn't expected to make an immediate impact on the team, the 30-year-old's elite speed has been sticking out during practice as he continues to torch opposing defenders.

The former Olympic sprinter has taken the top off the Bears' defense multiple times and hauled in a number of what would be long touchdown receptions. Goodwin may be the team's best deep threat and could see playing time as the No. 3 outside option behind Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney.

The seven-year pro sat out last season due to COVID-19 concerns, but he had posted 1,611 yards from scrimmage on 100 touches in the three seasons prior with the San Francisco 49ers. Goodwin averages an impressive 16.6 yards per receptions in his career.

The Bears could use all the help they can get as no wide receiver outside of Robinson posted more than 631 yards in 2020. If Goodwin can stay healthy, he could enter the fall as an underrated passing option for quarterbacks Andy Dalton and rookie Justin Fields.

The Bears currently have odds set at +184 to make the playoffs, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
