The Minnesota Vikings open their 2019 NFL season at home against the Atlanta Falcons. While it's the first week of the season, the Vikings weren't able to escape putting some big names on the injury report.

One of those names was wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who has been nursing a hamstring injury all week. While Diggs is officially active in Week 1, his fantasy owners should proceed with caution.

The difference in Diggs' career splits when he's on versus off the injury report is staggering. Averaging 15.4 fantasy points per game when he's not on the injury report is 6.3 points more than the 9.1 PPG he racks up during his career when he does appear on the report. That point differential is something that's tough to ignore.

Who to Start in Fantasy Football

Diggs is also expected to see coverage from Atlanta's top cornerback Desmond Trufant the majority of the day, which should only further knock the WR down the fantasy football rankings for Week 1. He's still a viable WR2, but fantasy owners should temper their expectations this week.

It's worth considering starting other receivers ranked around or above Diggs this week, but since most fantasy owners drafted the Maryland product as their WR1 or WR2, that's surely a tough pill to swallow right out of the gate.
