Steelers Trying to Poach Veteran Free Agent From Bengals

Although we're firmly into the NFL offseason, there are still several notable free agents looking for jobs. The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the teams looking to potentially sign one of these names to help bolster their roster. In fact, they're going as far as trying to poach a player from a rival team.
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi is slated to meet with the Steelers on Tuesday. The 28-year-old is no stranger to the AFC North, having spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns before joining the Bengals in 2021.
Former Bengals’ DT Larry Ogunjobi, who had seven sacks last season, is visiting today with the Pittsburgh Steelers, per source. He recently visited with the New York Jets.

Pittsburgh Steelers Rumors
Ogunjobi, who also met with the New York Jets in recent weeks, has been having an unfortunate offseason. He was actually set to sign with the Chicago Bears back in March, but he ended up failing his physical, resulting in the deal falling through.
Nevertheless, the former Charlotte product could still be a good fit for the Steelers. He recorded 49 tackles along with a career-high seven sacks in 16 starts last season. Adding him to a DT room that already consists of Cameron Heyward would only strengthen Pittsburgh's front seven.
Some Steelers fans might not be fans of a potential deal, though. It was only in 2019 when Ogunjobi, who was a member of the Browns at the time, shoved a helmet-less Mason Rudolph after Myles Garrett hit the quarterback in his head with his own helmet.
While the incident happened three years ago and Ogunjobi served a one-game suspension, Steelers fans can hold grudges, especially as far as divisional rivals are concerned. At the same time, it could be water under the bridge, especially if the fanbase is certain that the veteran can improve Pittsburgh's defense.
