Steelers Take Franchise Quarterback in Mel Kiper's Latest 2022 NFL Mock Draft

It's officially NFL Combine week and the football world is gearing up towards an exciting lead-up to April's draft. Like any team, the Pittsburgh Steelers have multiple areas to address throughout free agency and the draft. Ben Roethlisberger's retirement left Pittsburgh with a clear-cut No. 1 priority, however, and that's finding their next franchise quarterback near the top of the draft.
That's exactly what ESPN's Mel Kiper has Pittsburgh doing in his latest mock draft.
Steelers NFL Draft Rumors
Kiper projects the Steelers to take Liberty Flames quarterback Malik Willis with the No. 20 overall pick.

Steelers Mock Draft
Willis has already been linked to the Steelers in multiple mock drafts. The Liberty junior is known for an impressive physical toolset, which he showed off at both the Senior Bowl and throughout the past season. Willis tossed for 2,857 yards and 27 touchdowns last year, adding 13 touchdowns and 878 yards on the ground.
Kiper projected the Steelers to take Ole Miss QB Matt Corral in his previous mock draft. He describes Willis as the most talented quarterback in this draft class, but one that shouldn't start Week 1 of the season given his need for some time to adjust to the speed of the NFL.
It's quite clear the expectation is for Pittsburgh to land a top QB prospect come April, it's just a matter of which one.
Currently, the Steelers hold +6500 odds (26th) to win Super Bowl 57 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
