There's no denying that the LSU Tigers of 2020 just simply aren't the same team that they were last year, but it's hard to blame them after losing an NFL record-tying amount of talent to the league this spring.

Unfortunately, that's left the Tigers in a tough spot with seven games in the books thus far this season, sitting sub-.500 at 3-5 ahead of Week 15's regular-season finale against the No. 6 Florida Gators staring them in the face.

And after losing their star receiver in Terrace Marshall to an opt-out last week and taking one on the chin to Alabama on Saturday, nothing got any easier this Monday morning for LSU either.

The team's crown jewel of LSU's 2020 recruiting class, Arik Gilbert, has missed practice this Monday and is reportedly experiencing homesickness, which is the last thing in the world Tigers' fans needed to hear right now.

A former 5-Star recruit, according to, Gilbert came to Baton Rouge as both the No. 1 tight end recruit in his class and the No. 5 overall recruit in the entire country, boasting a 0.9972 composite rating.

Gilbert played his high school football in Marietta, Georgia, which is northwest of Atlanta and sits more than 500 miles away from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

While nothing is official on his departure yet, LSU fans can only hope that something, or someone, gets ahold of him and convinces him to stay for the original reasons he committed to the Tigers before it's too late.
