Sony Michel has been a really effective player at times. But given how dominant he was in college, and how electric he looked while doing it, it's never felt like he's lived up to his immense potential, and first-round pedigree. One of the biggest reasons for that is his troubling injury history.

Unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worse for Michel, and his latest injury update has absolutely tanked his fantasy football outlook.

Sony Michel Injury Update

Michel will open the season on the PUP, which isn't a good sign for his health going forward. This is yet another tough blow for the New England Patriots, who have already had eight players elect to opt-out of the 2020 season.

There's no concrete timeline for his potential return, but it does seem as if fantasy's RB24 from 2019 is in danger of missing the start of the season. If he does miss time, Damien Harris and Rex Burkhead could see a boost in value, though James White's role should remain pretty stagnant, regardless of Michel's health.

Michel will certainly be a name to monitor as the offseason progresses. Prior to the injury, he was ranked as the No. 96 overall player in our 2020 fantasy rankings.
