Sean Payton Roasts Old Regime for Broncos' 2022 Performance

The Denver Broncos officially hired head coach Sean Payton last month, hoping that he could lead them back to championship glory. While Payton is one of the best ever to direct from the sidelines, even he knows that there's a lot to fix in Denver following the debacle known as the 2022 NFL season.
The former Super Bowl-winning head coach didn't mince words about the Broncos' 2022 regime on Monday. Payton roasted last season's offense to reporters, saying that it's been "a hard film to watch," as per 9NEWS' Mike Klis.

Denver Broncos News
Broncos fans know too well how tough it must've been to watch last season's offense in action. After all, Denver produced an NFL-worst 16.9 PPG under ex-HC Nathaniel Hackett. It didn't help that Denver also averaged the eighth-most turnovers while giving up the most sacks across all 32 teams.
Naturally, the key to a better offense will be to get Russell Wilson back on track. The veteran quarterback went 4-11 with 3,524 passing yards and 16 touchdowns to 11 interceptions in 15 games. If Payton can have the same impact on Wilson as he did on Drew Brees, Denver will see better results.
Payton also made sure to roast the special teams. He added that he doesn't think the Broncos "were very good in the kicking game for a number of reasons." He's not wrong considering how Denver averaged just 6.4 kicking points per contest (No. 26) while only converting on 77.8% of field-goal attempts (No. 28).
It'll be interesting to see if the Broncos' offseason maneuvers combined with Payton's coaching and improve the offensive and special teams situations. During his final season in New Orleans (2021), the Saints finished 19th in points per game and 29th in kicking points. In other words, there's room for improvement on both sides.
Broncos Super Bowl Odds
Payton's arrival at the Mile High City has oddsmakers feeling more confident about Denver than they were during the 2022 campaign. The Broncos currently hold +3500 odds (T-No. 15) to win Super Bowl LVIII, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
