Sean Payton Reveals Saints QB Plans for Week 9

New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 8, leaving fans to speculate whether Taysom Hill or Trevor Siemian would start under center against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend.
Saints head coach Sean Payton shed more light on the situation during Friday's press conference. Payton told reporters that Siemian would start in Week 9, however, Hill will also have a role in the game.
Sean Payton said Trevor Siemian is starting this weekend and “Taysom Hill is playing in this game.”

While Siemian has just one start in the last two seasons, he looked solid in relief for Winston last week. The fifth-year signal-caller finished his Week 8 appearance with 16/29 complete passes, 159 passing yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it sounds like Hill will be used in his traditional "gadget player" role as he returns from his three-week absence due to a knee injury.
The fifth-year pro rushed the ball 103 times over the past two years for 534 yards and 11 touchdowns. Not only that but he's also made 11 catches during that span 135 receiving yards and another score.
Overall, the Saints have options during Winston's absence. If Siemian can't get the job done under center, New Orleans could move Hill back to his old quarterback role. After all, he went 3-1-0 as the No. 1 QB last season when Drew Brees was hurt.
