“He was working some today. He’s running and he’s catching some balls and doing stuff. We’ll see what happens. This is an injury that’s kind of unpredictable in the recovery.”
Kenneth Walker Injury Update
Carroll told reporters on Monday that Walker was able to do some running and catching drills during practice. Other than that, there seems to be no expectations moving forward. Carroll simply stated "we'll see what happens" and explained that Walker's injury is unpredictable in terms of a timeline.
There's good news and bad news here for Seahawks fans. On one hand, Seattle could easily play it safe and list Walker as inactive against the Denver Broncos. On the other hand, the rookie's progress suggests a return within September. That's an improvement compared to his status a few weeks ago.
Of course, Rashaad Penny will act as the go-to ball-carrier is Walker is unable to suit up. The 26-year-old re-signed on a one-year deal after he rushed for 749 yards and six touchdowns on 119 carries in 2021 (10 games). Travis Homer and Deejay Dallas would split the work as the reserve running backs.
The Seahawks kick off their season against the Broncos on Sept. 12. The game will be broadcasted nationwide on ESPN's edition of Monday Night Football. Seattle is slated as a 6.5-point home underdog in that matchup with +215 odds on the moneyline, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
