The Seattle Seahawks continue to exceed expectations during the 2022 NFL season and currently sit atop the NFC West with a 4-3 record. Staying healthy is going to be crucial in their attempt to secure a playoff berth, which makes wide receiver D.K. Metcalf's latest injury update come as a big relief.

D.K. Metcalf Injury Update

After trying to make a leaping catch near the end zone late in the first quarter of a Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, Metcalf landed awkwardly on his ankle. He immediately limped to the Seattle sideline and was carted to the locker room. The Pro Bowler missed the rest of the game.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll explained on Monday morning that Metcalf will not need surgery for an issue centered around his patellar tendon. It's possible the landing simply re-aggravated an old injury. The 24-year-old has kept a positive attitude and has even been adamant about practicing on Wednesday.

Carroll remains skeptical about that idea and did not dive into what a recovery timeline looks like moving forward. It could be as short as a few days or as long as a few weeks. Keep an eye on Metcalf's participation this week ahead of a matchup against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Either way, the damage is minimal and that is amazing news. Metcalf has been quarterback Geno Smith's top deep threat this season after signing a three-year contract extension worth $72 million last summer, compiling 418 yards and 2 touchdowns on 31 receptions (52 targets).

Despite being in first place, the Seahawks only have the third-best odds to win the NFC West (+550) on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
