The New Orleans Saints are riding a three-game winning streak into November and sit firmly in second place in the NFC South with a 5-2 overall record.

Now, a Saints special teamer has been named NFC Player of the Month for October.

Blake Gillikin Player of the Month

NFC Player of the Month

Saints rookie punter Blake Gillikin was named NFC Player of the Month for his terrific work in October. The former Penn State product recorded 17 punts in October for an average of 46.9 yards of distance. Gillikin also recorded 10 punts inside the 20-yard line.

The rookie has been impressive throughout his first NFL season and ranks fifth across the NFL with an yearly average of 49.6 yards per punt.

New Orleans' defense is one of the best units in the NFL as they allow the fourth-fewest points per game (18.3). The pairing of Gillikin's exceptional punting and this defensive front is a receipe for wins and the Saints look to keep that trend going.

New Orleans heads into a Week 9 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, a game in which they are favored by 6 points on FanDuel Sportsbook.
