Ryan Tannehill's Injury Situation Takes Shocking Turn

It was clear earlier this week that Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill was in jeopardy of missing the team's upcoming game. Tanehill reaggravated his nagging ankle injury on Sunday, putting his Week 16 status in doubt after previously missing time this season.

However, Tannehill's injury situation has taken a shocking turn.

Independent Titans writer Paul Kuharsky reports "multiple sources" say Tannehill's ankle issue "will very likely end his season." Kuharsky also notes the ailment "could require surgery" to fix it.

This is a major blow for a team in the thick of a tightly contested playoff race. The 7-7 Titans have seen their large AFC South lead evaporate in recent weeks, with the Jaguars now right on their heels at 6-8 after a midseason turnaround.

Tannehill has been nothing spectacular in 2022, but he has provided a veteran presence for an offense with several new pieces in place. He's thrown for 2,536 yards, 13 touchdowns and 6 interceptions this campaign, taking a clear step back after the departure of A.J. Brown.

Now the inexperienced Malik Willis is in line to start for potentially the rest of the year. He went 1-1 while filling in for Tannehill earlier this season, but attempted just 26 combined passes between his two starts.
