The breakup of Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks this offseason has prompted plenty of behind-the-scenes drama to become public. Wilson, head coach Pete Carroll and former Seahawks players have all spoken out on how this Super Bowl contender deteriorated over the years.

Now former Seattle mainstays Richard Sherman and K.J. Wright have called out Carroll over his favoritism of Wilson during their playing days.

Seattle Seahawks News

Wright joined Sherman on the latter's "Richard Sherman Podcast" and discussed how Wilson wasn't held to the same level of accountability as the other 52 players on the roster. The star defenders lamented how Carroll would chide them for their play while Wilson's name wasn't mentioned nearly as much.

"When you got 52 guys being held to a certain standard, you got one guy not being held to a standard, then it's going to cause some friction. After a while it had to get to a point where he chose Russ or the defense, and after the Super Bowl loss, he kind of made it pretty clear who he was choosing."

Sherman and Wright's perspective seems to confirm what's long been assumed. This isn't the first time Carroll has been accused of special treatment toward his QB, as the head coach denied this issue in 2017, and then again one year later.

Given the negative way the Seahawks' dynasty ultimately dissolved, it wouldn't be surprising to see more players speak out on what really went down in Seattle during Wilson's tenure. Meanwhile, he'll need to focus on turning things around with the 1-1 Denver Broncos, who are 1.5-point home underdogs on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds for this week's matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
