The MLB offseason is ramping up. Not only does Thursday mark the official opening of free agency, but baseball fans witnessed an early winter trade between the Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers.

Reports revealed Thursday afternoon that the Rangers traded utility defender Nick Solak to the Reds for cash considerations.

Solak spent four seasons with the Rangers and can suit up at a variety of positions. He's played both LF and CF, in addition to every infield spot outside catcher and shortstop. The 27-year-old owns a career slash line of .252/.327/.372 with 21 home runs in 253 games.

The 2022 campaign was not memorable for the young utility defender. Solak split time between MLB and Triple-A levels, and finished the year on the 60-day IL with a foot injury. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the second round of the 2016 June Amateur Draft.

The move brings Cincinnati's 40-man roster to full.
