Red Sox to Receive Final Pieces in Andrew Benintendi Trade This Week

The Boston Red Sox made headlines back in February when the team decided to trade away starting outfielder Andrew Benintendi. Well, it looks like the players to be named later (PTBNL) that were involved in the deal are set to be acquired by Boston sometime this week.
News: The Red Sox are close to finalizing the Andrew Benintendi trade by naming the PTBNLs from the Royals and Mets. The prospect from the Mets must be named by Friday.

Red Sox News: Andrew Benintendi Trade to Be Finalized
Benintendi ended up with the Kansas City Royals in a three-team deal that included the New York Mets as well. Overall, Boston received outfielder Franchy Codero, minor-league pitcher Josh Winckowski and three PTBNL. The Royals also flipped prospect Khalil Lee to the Mets.
The deadline to acquire the PTBNL from the Mets is set on June 4 and he is expected to be better than either of the players coming from the Royals. While there is no set date to acquire the players from the Royals, reports say that the decision will be made in the near future.
Benintendi has enjoyed a successful season so far in Kansas City hitting .288/.347/.384 through 49 games played with 24 runs scored and 18 RBI. On the other hand, Cordero has struck out 37 times in 34 games with the Red Sox and was recently optioned to Triple-A. However, Winckowski has been unstoppable at Double-A so far this year posting a 1.33 ERA across five starts (27.0 innings pitched).
It'll take a while to see how all of the players involved in this deal pan out, but it was a smart move for the Red Sox to wait on naming the PTBNL. The team has been able to scout the options in the minor leagues early on this season, which is something they were not able to do last year.
