Green Bay Packers cornerback Rasul Douglas gave Packers fans a major scare during Monday Night Football. After picking off Los Angeles Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield, Douglas made the inexplicable decision to attempt a lateral to his teammates, which nearly ended up back in the hands of the Rams.
The timing could not have been worse, as the New England Patriots just lost to the Las Vegas Raiders on a similar play the day before. Douglas gave his thoughts on the lateral after the game.

The cornerback realized his mistake as soon as he made it. He told reporters he immediately thought "this is about to be like the Raiders and Patriots" once he saw the ball hit the ground. His teammates weren't impressed by the extra effort, asking "What the hell are you on?"
Thankfully, Green Bay can look back on this play and laugh since it didn't result in Los Angeles getting the ball back. However, this kind of mistake had the potential to backfire in a major way, and the veteran can't repeat it moving forward.
Douglas' fourth-quarter interception ultimately helped stave off a comeback bid from the Rams. The Packers closed things out from there, holding on to a 24-12 victory and keeping their playoff hopes alive. Green Bay's odds of making the postseason are currently listed at +880 on FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
