The 2022 NFL season isn't going as planned for the defending Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams. LA fell to 3-4 on the season in Week 8 after another loss to the San Francisco 49ers, and superstar wideout Cooper Kupp went down with an injury in the process.
Fortunately, it looks like the Rams dodged a major scare.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that Kupp did, in fact, suffer a "regular low ankle sprain" in the final minutes of Week 8's loss. Head coach Sean McVay even remarked that he was at fault for having Kupp out there in a game that had gotten out of hand.
Kupp said "things are pointing towards dodging a bullet," which is a major sigh of relief. A year after scoring the 7th-most points in football, the Rams rank just 28th in points per game (16.9) this season. They cannot afford to lose Kupp, who leads the team with 84 targets, 64 receptions, 686 receiving yards and 5 TDs.
For now, the 3-4 Rams hold just +3400 odds to repeat as Super Bowl champs on FanDuel Sportsbook.
