The Las Vegas Raiders enter the NFL offseason with a couple of new faces in their leadership: head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler. But, this is far from the only decision Las Vegas will face this offseason and that includes the future of Derek Carr at quarterback.
Carr has only one year remaining on his contract, worth about $20 million, and the team of McDaniels and Ziegler have come to a decision if they'll look to keep him under center long term.
Derek Carr Radiers Extension
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Raiders will discuss options with Carr to sign him to an extension, and keep him in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future.
This is a nice change of pace for Carr, who was often left without a glowing voice of support/backing from previous head coach Jon Gruden.
This past season was one of Carr's most impressive, notably for his ability to help lead the franchise through some offseason troubles, all the way to their first playoff appearance since 2016. He finished fifth in the NFL in passing yards (4,804) while leading three fourth-quarter comebacks and six game-winning drives in 2021.
Las Vegas currently holds +6000 odds to win Super Bowl 57, according to betting odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
