Phillies Acquire Infield Depth in Trade With Twins

The Philadelphia Phillies are rolling with interim manager Rob Thomson at the helm, winning 14 of his first 17 games since taking over from Joe Girardi. Philadelphia is finally playing like the postseason contender it was expected to be at the start of the year, though they'll continue to add talent that helps maximize this roster's potential.
Monday brought news of the Phillies trading for some extra infield depth in a deal with the Minnesota Twins.

INF Daniel Robertson acquired from Twins for cash, sent to LV
Philadelphia has acquired infielder Daniel Robertson from the Twins for cash considerations. He'll join the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs and provide a depth option with MLB experience the team can turn to if needed.
Robertson was a first-round pick by the Oakland Athletics in 2012. He spent two and a half years in the organization before being sent to the Tampa Bay Rays, whom he made his MLB debut with in 2017.
After three seasons in Tampa Bay, Robertson moved on to the San Francisco Giants for 13 games in 2020. He then played in 50 games for the Milwaukee Brewers last season, slashing .164/.303/.274 with 2 home runs and 4 RBIs.
Robertson made 24 appearances for the Twins' Triple-A affiliate this year, slashing .220/.326/.390 with 3 HRs and 19 RBIs. His ability to play second, third and shortstop makes him a valuable utility option in case injuries strike.
