Injuries have been a struggle for Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto this season. The 2021 All-Star has been an impactful presence for Philly, but various ailments have held him back from a monster year. And it appeared that Realmuto picked up another possible problem after leaving Sunday's game early.
However, manager Joe Girardi provided a positive update on the catcher after Sunday's contest.
J.T. Realmuto Injury Update
Realmuto suffered a rolled ankle that forced him to exit the game early. But, he's only considered day-to-day and the team doesn't seem overly concerned about their All-Star. That's basically the best-case scenario after Realmuto's injury scare.
Realmuto's health down the stretch will have a huge impact on the Phillies' playoff hopes. He's recorded 14 home runs and 58 RBI this season while slashing .264/.353/.447 across 106 games.
Hopefully Realmuto's recent move to first base will keep the injury bug away as Philadelphia chases a postseason appearance. They currently sit 4.0 games back of the final NL Wild Card spot.
