The Philadelphia Phillies already went all-in during the past offseason in hopes that Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos would help end a decade-long playoff drought. The Phillies could dive even deeper by selling high on a top prospect at the trade deadline as they remain in the Wild Card race.

Philadelphia Phillies Trade Rumors

Insider Matt Gelb predicts Philadelphia to gauge interest on top catching prospect Logan O'Hoppe. The fast-rising 22-year-old recently jumped into MLB's Top 100 prospects list and that means it would likely take a substantial return for the Phillies to bite. It's certainly worth a shot, though.

The 22-year-old is now ranked as the team's No. 3 prospect after only entering the picture during the 2021 season. O'Hoppe has shined at the double-A level this summer, slashing .273/.381/.531 to go along with an impressive 14 home runs, 42 runs scored and 39 RBI across 59 games.

In fact, O'Hoppe even earned Player of the Week honors near the end of May during a torrid hot streak at the plate. The only problem is that J.T. Realmuto is under contract through 2025, leaving little room for O'Hoppe to contribute in the near future. He may be better off competing elsewhere.

Dealing O'Hoppe for a player that can contribute beyond the 2022 season is something the Phillies have to be considering at this point. After all, they have no one to play center field right now. Neither Mickey Moniak and Odubel Herrera have posted an on-base percentage over .270 this season.

Philadelphia has odds set at +4500 to win the World Series, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
