PFF's Wide Receiver Rankings Prove Ohio State is WR U
Ohio State University has constantly been one of the top powerhouses in all of college football throughout the years. The amount of talent that has walked through those doors and into the NFL is truly staggering. With that being said, the 2021 college football season shouldn't be any different, especially when it comes to the Buckeyes' pass-catching core.
ProFootballFocus has released their top-10 wide receiver rankings for the 2021 season and a couple of Buckeyes wideouts top the list. Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson are ranked first and second, respectively. Talk about WR U.
Ohio State Buckeyes News
Even though the Buckeyes will be without quarterback Justin Fields this season now that his NFL career is beginning, that doesn't mean that Olave and Wilson won't produce. On the contrary. The Buckeyes' duo is talented enough that they can make any quarterback look productive.
PFF projects Olave to be a first-round pick whenever he declares for the NFL draft, calling him the best route-runner in all of college football. He's been pretty dominant over the last three seasons, turning 110 receptions into 1,766 yards and 22 touchdowns over 27 games.
On the other hand, Wilson was also pretty impressive. He's only been with Ohio State for two seasons, but he has 73 receptions for 1,155 yards and 11 touchdowns in that span. He also earned First Team All-Big Ten honors in 2020 and is one of the best college wideouts when it comes to route-running, separation and single coverage, according to PFF.
The Buckeyes are going to need Olave and Wilson to have another great season together if the team wants to win a national championship. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the odds of that happening next season are +600.
