3 Most Likely Teams to Draft Penei Sewell
By Larry Rupp

The 2021 NFL Draft is almost here and one prospect that has remained a potential top-10 pick all offseason is Oregon offensive lineman Penei Sewell. Sewell spent three seasons with the Ducks and is widely considered a player that can step in on day one and contribute right away.
NFL teams know that having a reliable offensive line leads to a lot of success in the league these days. With that being said, here are three of the most likely teams to draft Sewell.
Penei Sewell Draft Projections
1. Cincinnati Bengals (No. 5)
The Cincinnati Bengals could go a lot of different ways with this pick, but it is no secret that they need better play from their line next season. Quarterback Joe Burrow seemed to be getting hit left and right last year. An upgrade in protection could go a long way for this young team. In fact, Burrow ranked in the top 10 in sacks taken despite only playing in 10 games. Plus, Sewell is learning to play both tackle positions and that versatility could come in handy for head coach Zac Taylor.
2. Detroit Lions (No. 7)
Another team that needs help up front is the Detroit Lions. The Lions currently seem to be in the middle of a rebuild and creating a dependable offensive line would be a step in the right direction. They need to make sure new quarterback Jared Goff is protected in the pocket and Sewell has the potential to be a long-term option at tackle. While this may not seem like a very exciting pick, it is one that could pay off huge dividends for Detroit in the future.
3. Los Angeles Chargers (No. 13)
There is a possibility that Sewell falls in the first round and the Los Angeles Chargers would likely grab him at No. 13 if he is still there. They have an immediate hole at tackle and could fill it by drafting a franchise type of player in Sewell. He allowed just 1 sack in 1,377 college snaps, which shows the consistency and reliability he comes with. The Chargers are only a few pieces away from being a true contender and Sewell would be a great addition to this offense.
