With the NFL season quickly approaching, some players have started to opt-out of playing in 2020 amidst the coronavirus pandemic. This includes New England Patriots star linebacker Dont'a Hightower, who has some pretty strong family reasons to opt-out.

There's a right way and a wrong way to report that kind of an opt-out. One Patriots writer certainly landed on the "wrong way" before deleting his tweet and correcting it.

"His woman" is a pretty jarring way to refer to Hightower's fiancee, especially since the most recent post on Hightower's Instagram page is an engagement announcement. He was clearly called out for it, and quickly deleted and corrected the tweet.

The correction tweet really involved doubling down, though, as he ended it with a defiant "Better?" He didn't even really correct the tweet, simply removing any mention of Hightower's fiancee rather than changing the way he referenced her.

When your first tweet is bad enough that you feel the need to delete and correct it, doubling down in your follow up is certainly a head-scratcher.
